We get injured in relationships, especially in those primary ones, but we heal in relationships, too.

Consistency, privacy, and safety of a therapeutic relationship allows it to become, in time, a healing relationship.

It takes courage to want to know oneself.

Embodiment is essential.

We all have unloved and exiled parts of self, and sometimes these parts have us in their grip. Learning to relate to these aspects of self in new ways initiates change. It is the change itself.

We all carry beliefs about ourselves. Some of those beliefs we accepted when we were very young, some formed under a lot of stress and very little support. Many of those beliefs no longer serve our wholeness. Some of them were never true in the first place.

When the praying mantis opens its wings
it becomes a green flower.
When the egg breaks
it becomes a bird.
When the river is finished, its avenues of light
fold and drop and fall into
and become the sea.
